TRAVERTINE PAVERS and TRAVERTINE COPING
Travertine Pavers are a very nice selection for pool decking. Travertine Coping can be a little thin in appearance and in proportion to your pool decking and waterline tile.
POURED IN PLACE CONCRETE BAND POOL PERIMETER
This is a great type of pool perimeter deck edge. It is formed and poured in place
and is one of the best looking coping styles. It is smooth without all the thin pie cut pieces that can make Travertine Coping look a little busy. It looks very nice with color added to the concrete. This example has Belgard Urbana Pavers for the decking.
NATURAL COLORED CONCRETE POOL DECKING
This is the most affordable type of pool decking available. It comes in nice earth tone colors and is very slip resistant due to the broom type finish.
It is a good choice for your pool deck selection and is a very nice choice when installed as a 16" wide concrete band around the pool perimeter edging when using pavers as the main decking material as seen above.
Below is a sample of the many colors that you have to choose from. You should try to stay with a lighter color for the coolest possible deck and a 2 lb or less color if cost is a concern as the colors that are over 2 lbs (per sack of concrete) will cost a little more and those are usually the darker colors.
You can use darker colors with concrete or paver decking just do not plan to walk on it barefoot when it is hot out.
Visit the Davis Concrete Color website to see more colors. You can order actual concrete sample chips of the colors that you have narrowed your selection to and the 1st (3) samples will be free. https://www.daviscolors.com/shop/
ACRYLIC COATED POOL DECKING
Acrylic pool decking is considered to be one of the coolest forms of pool decking to walk on in bare feet but is not the most affordable type of decking as commonly believed. The Acrylic Deck coating can scratch, chip and will fade and get chalky in a few years requiring the deck to be re-done making the investment even more expensive.
Lighter colored travertine pavers are also among the cooler to the touch pool deck surfaces with Marabella Stone Pavers (similar to Travertine) being about the coolest but also the most expensive. With any type of decking that you choose the lighter the color you go with the cooler the deck will be on a hot day.
You will probably not walk on any type of pool deck in bare feet on a hot summer day in Arizona.
